	1. MONTREAL ALOUETTES [unchanged] Overall record: 4-1 Streak: Four wins Oh, to be old again. Seriously. Veteran Als kicked the poop out of the upstart Argos. One of the league's better defences couldn't stop Montreal QB Anthony Calvillo (30-of-36), or corral runner Avon Cobourne (115 yards on the ground, 116 in the air). Now in comes Saskatchewan for what should be a classic.
	2. CALGARY STAMPEDERS [unchanged] Overall record: 4-1 Streak: Two wins This is really a tie for second and third, because the Stamps were about an inch from being upset by Winnipeg and the Riders didn't play well either. QB Henry Burris was strong in the air, but the White Stallions could not run the ball at all, outside of the pivot himself. And Smiling Hank has got to stop turning the pebbled leather over.
	3. SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS [unchanged] Overall record: 4-1 Streak: One win Deep into the red zone marched the Riders, over and over again. Only to call on kicker Luca Congi to provide seven field goals out of seven attempts. So 21 of their 37 points came from drives that failed. The defence allowed almost 500 yards of total offence by the Cats, and a record-tying performance by Arland Bruce III with 16 catches. Good thing Hamilton couldn't finish either.
	4. WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS [up from 5] Overall record: 2-3 Streak: One loss Defying most pre-season prognosticators (Present!), the Bombers are showing last year's coaching was even worse than we thought. Now they have the competent Paul LaPolice at the helm and they're showing they can battle. The defence was more than competitive against the Stamps. And if Steven Jyles was just an inch closer in his last toss to the end zone, the Bombers would have beaten Calgary. Second place in the East this fall is going to be a cage fight. Now back-to-back with Hamilton will tell us a lot.
	5. TORONTO ARGONAUTS [down from 4] Overall record: 3-2 Streak: One loss A beat down by the Montreal Alouettes doesn't mean you haven't improved over all, but it does show how far you have to go. Far too many mistakes killed them. And fans, coach Jim Barker is sticking with QB Cleo Lemon this year, so stop whining. This was the worst performance by a good defence and it's going to be interesting to see how they respond in Edmonton this week.
	6. HAMILTON TIGER-CATS [unchanged] Overall record: 1-4 Streak: Two losses The difference between the top three and the bottom three teams in this league right now is huge. GM Obie seems to have fixed the offensive line, now he has to work on that deep pass coverage where DB Jason Shivers seems convinced he has eyes in the back of his head. For the record, he doesn't. If this team can stop making two or three key mistakes a game, it can get on a run.
	7. EDMONTON ESKIMOS [up from 8] Overall record: 1-4 Streak: One win Let's talk about Ricky Ray. All you folks who want him replaced should be careful what you wish for. He threw for 360 yards and two touchdowns and that late pickoff for a major the other way was because his receivers ran into each other. Changing the general manager is not going to make them commit less errors.
	8. B.C. LIONS [down from 7] Overall record: 1-4 Streak: Four losses Lions and Eskimos are now 1-1 against each other, 0-6 against everyone else. The defence allowed almost 500 yards but did a good job of holding with their backs to the wall. QB Travis Lulay was awful, completing 16-of-26 for 134 yards, two interceptions and three fumbles, the last when his club was in field goal range for a tie late in the game. Did you see that look on coach/GM/boss Wally Buono's face after that play? Changes are coming.
