Als' Calvillo released from hospital

Montreal Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo was released from hospital Saturday, two days after suffering a bruised sternum in a game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Calvillo was injured when sacked in the second quarter of Montreal's 39-17 win over Winnipeg on Thursday night.

Calvillo fell on the ball after he was taken down by Bombers linebacker Odell Willis just before halftime. The CFL's outstanding player the last two years was taken from the field on a stretcher and to hospital.

With backup Adrian McPherson also injured (knee), Chris Leak took over at quarterback.

The CFL club said Calvillo is home resting with his family. The Alouettes added Calvillo's status will be updated when the team resumes practising Friday.

Montreal doesn't play again until the B.C. Lions visit Sept. 3.
