Canada Rising: basketball history in the making
Men's and women's national teams aiming for 2016 Olympics

The women's team recently won gold at the Pan Am Games to secure Canada's first gold medal in international competition.

The men's team also fared well, advancing all the way to the final against Brasil, where they were defeated but still came away with the first ever medal for the senior men's team.
Neither team has much time to rest as the focus now turns to qualifying for the Olympics in Rio next summer.
Kia Nurse will lead the women's squad in Edmonton, beginning August 9, while the men's team and breakout star Jamal Murray will travel to Mexico at the end of August.
