Red Sox slugger David Ortiz hits another for the record books
'Big Papi' becomes oldest player to reach 35 HRs in a regular season
David Ortiz is determined to go out on top.
Even though the Boston Red Sox slugger says he's retiring at the end of the season, he continues to break records.
On Monday, the 40-year-old became the oldest player to record 35 home runs in a single MLB regular season.
Ortiz broke the record after hitting a two-run shot off of rookie Dylan Bundy in the fifth inning of the Red Sox's 5-2 win over the Orioles.

The record was previously held by Darrell Evans, who reached 34 home runs in 1987 while playing with the Detroit Tigers.
With less than two weeks left in the regular season Ortiz is batting .317, and with Boston poised at the top of the AL East, "Big Papi" appears determined to make every last swing a memorable one.
