He blends speculative fiction, horror and environmental themes in his award-winning novels, including the bestseller Annihilation, which was adapted into film starring Natalie Portman. VanderMeer joined q's Tom Power on the line from Tallahassee, Fla., to discuss the latest novel in his popular Borne series, Dead Astronauts, and an upcoming TV series based on his work.
