Rémy Huberdeau explores the real lives of transgender parents
Before Transparent was a hit show, Rémy Huberdeau was working on a ground-breaking doc.
Montreal director Rémy Huberdeau joins guest host Wab Kinew to discuss his new documentary Transgender Parents, which highlights the many gifts transgender people bring to parenting because of -- and not in spite of -- their gender identities.
He reflects on the value of living one's life authentically, how transphobia can affect the family members of trans folks, and what needs to be done to open the community circle.
"The ask is to see transsexuality as part of the richness of human diversity and experience, and not a deficit when it comes to parenting," says the filmmaker.

Huberdeau's film gets its broadcast debut this evening on CBC's Doc Channel.
