Monday, Jan. 30, 2017: Fiona Reid, T.I. and more
Today on q, hosted by Tom Power:
1. Fiona Reid brings life to the Queen in The Audience
Many may know about Netflix's recent hit The Crown, but most may not realize that the show was based off of a play creator Peter Morgan wrote called The Audience, which has now made its way to Canada. The Audience chronicles the weekly meetings the Queen has with her Prime Ministers and for the play's star, Fiona Reid, it was important to portray a "living, breathing human being that you come to care about over the play." In her interview with Tom Power, Reid discusses her preparation for this role and her continued appeal to pop culture. Her argument: "At the heart, she is a very ordinary human being and I think that's the key to her allure."
The Audience runs at the Royal Alexandra Theatre till Feb. 26. For more information, head over to Mirvish's website.

2. Liberal redneck Trae Crowder balances the pride and shame of being a Southerner
Trae Crowder believes that Southern U.S. states are "the most misunderstood region in the country." With many labelling Southerners patriotic right wings, Crowder is pushing back against that stereotype as the liberal redneck. "We have a duty, as Southerners in modern times, to acknowledge the genuinely horrible stuff that the South has done over the years," he explains. "But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't be proud to be from there."
Crowder is the co-writer of a new book (out now) called The Liberal Redneck Manifesto.

4. 'I wanted to put myself in the shoes of an average Black man': T.I. on the inspiration behind his new record
