Out in the Open reached out to the RCMP to address Colten Boushie's family's account of the night they discovered Boushie died.

They provided us with the following statement:

"It was through the media that the RCMP first became aware of allegations regarding our interaction with the family of Colten Boushie on the evening of August 9, 2016.

Some of the accounts, as they were described in the media, are concerning. 'In response to these allegations, we have met with a representative of the immediate family, listened to their concerns and have initiated a review of the actions undertaken by our members that night,' said Commanding Officer of 'F' Division, Assistant Commissioner Curtis Zablocki.  'We want to ensure that the actions of our members were appropriate.'

As all of the events of that day are part of the investigation, details are expected to emerge through the court process. In order to ensure the integrity of that process, the RCMP is unable to provide further comment."
