Talking about sex and Islam: Muslim educators share their thoughts

Two sex educators shared their thoughts on how to reconcile Islamic faith with sexual education.

Jonathan Zimmerman, a professor of education at New York University, told Out in the Open host Piya Chattopadhyay that it's impossible to have sex ed that discusses adolescent sexual autonomy while keeping in mind the values of various religious communities.

But there are at least two Muslim sex educators who disagree with that statement. Piya talks to Sameera Qureshi, who runs sexual health education programs in Calgary, and Imam Alyas Karmani, who is a sex therapist in the United Kingdom.

They shared their thoughts on how to reconcile Islamic faith with sexual education.
