David After Dentist, seven years later
"Is this real life?"
Most internet users remember the viral video of seven-year-old David, high on anesthetic after dental surgery. Since it was first posted in 2009, David After Dentist garnered over 130 million views on YouTube.
Many people still consider David's video an example of "parental overshare", a term often used to describe excessive posting or sharing inappropriately private information about one's children. According to one study, an average parent shares over a thousand photos and videos of their child before he or she turns five.
David Jr. has had almost seven years to reflect on his father's viral video. His thoughts?
"There was nothing bad about it, it was just a funny video."
David says people share things that are way worse than his surreal post-dental experience. "I've had people tell me, 'Oh, don't tell anybody about this,' but then they just go share it on social media."
