Just days to go before Americans go to the polls in an election that has been more closely watched than any in recent memory. Are you watching the U.S. election? What are your hopes and fears?

After an election cycle that seemed to go on and on and on, it's nearly decision day in the United States of America. On Tuesday, voters in the U.S.A. go to the polls to choose their President. It's the most powerful job on the planet and the eyes of the world are upon them.

This campaign has been one of the most closely watched and most divisive ever in the U.S.A. The choices are stark between Donald Trump, the bombastic tycoon and former reality TV host promising to 'Make America Great Again' by lowering taxes for the rich and erecting walls to keep immigrants out, and Hillary Clinton, the seasoned former Secretary of State whose fight to be the first ever female President has been dogged by an email scandal and her chronic unlikeability with voters.

The U.S.A. is our neighbour and largest trading partner. The Canadian government is preparing for an array of possible outcomes, particularly since both candidates have called for changes to the North America Free Trade Agreement

Trump's approach has set many alarm bells ringing, characterized by conspiracy theories and outbreaks of violence at his rallies. He has yet to reveal whether he'll even accept the outcome of Tuesday's vote. But clearly, he's won appeal amongst a group of disenfranchised voters who don't trust conventional politicians and have lost faith in the political system. Is Trump's rise from outlier to Presidential nominee affecting politics globally?

Our question: Are you watching the U.S. election? What is at stake?
