Kids and teens show Florida Panthers coach how easy handshakes can be
Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice says that playoff handshakes should be ‘on the players.’ A handshake line is an NHL tradition. At the end of a hard-fought playoff series, both teams line up, including coaches, and the winners and losers congratulate each other on a good game. But Maurice said he doesn’t believe that coaches should be in the line, only players: ‘They’re the guys who win, lose, suffer, go through the pain, fight for their teammates, take hits, do the real work.’ As for coaches, he said: ‘We just drink coffee and swear. That’s basically what I do.’ CBC Kids News wanted to know how hockey fans felt about this. So we asked them during the second round of the NHL playoffs in Toronto, Ontario: Does Maurice have a point?
