Join CBC Toronto for our Thorncliffe Park Community in Focus event

Thorncliffe Park is at a crossroads, and CBC Toronto wants to talk about it.

If you live in this area, you know the community continues to be a landing place for newcomers and their families. At the same time, it's undergoing massive structural change while dealing with the housing and affordability crisis. 

One thing remains constant: the grassroots effort to find solutions that lift up the community.

On Tuesday, April 16, join us for Facing the Future Together, an in-person panel event at the Thorncliffe Park Youth Hub located in the East York Town Centre.

Hosted by Metro Morning's David Common, the panellists will discuss the Thorncliffe Park community's challenges and how best to face the future together. 

When: Tuesday, April 16, 2024

Where: Thorncliffe Park Youth Hub, 45 Overlea Blvd (entrance 6)

Time: Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for registration and networking; the show begins at 6:30 p.m. It is first-come, first-seated, so arrive early to ensure the best seat.

The event will be recorded, and segments will run on Metro Morning later that week. It's your chance to peek behind the curtain of the GTA's number-one radio show and hear how the Thorncliffe Park community is working together to meet the future head-on. 

Snacks and refreshments will be provided, and there will be an opportunity to network and connect before the panel begins. Resource tables will provide information on community programs, and you can check out some of the programming CBC Toronto has done as part of our Thorncliffe Park Communities in Focus series.

On-stage guests include grassroots organizers Sabina Ali from the Thorncliffe Park Women's Committee, Shakhlo Sharipova of the Thorncliffe Park Autism Support Network and Aamir Sukhera, a member of I Am Thorncliffe.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow will join us in answering questions about the future of Thorncliffe Park, and we will also hear from a panel of young residents, including Serena Datta, a Grade 12 student, Syrian youth advocate Nada Al Baradan, and entrepreneur and volunteer Adnan Vania.
