Woman dead, another injured after apparent armed robbery south of Quebec City

One woman was killed and another hospitalized following what appears to be an armed robbery at a store south of Quebec City Thursday evening.

One woman was killed and another hospitalized following what appears to be an armed robbery at a store south of Quebec City on Thursday evening. 

According to initial police reports, a suspect attempted to rob a clothing store in Saint-Anselme, Que., about 40 minutes from the provincial capital, around 8 p.m. 

Shots were fired and a woman in her 30s was struck and killed. Another woman in her 20s was also shot and rushed to hospital. She is expected to survive.

The suspect fled the scene on foot and has not yet been found, Quebec provincial police say.

A police command post has been set up in the community and a operation is underway to try and find the suspect.
