55-year-old man dead after shooting in Montreal's LaSalle borough

Montreal police have confirmed the death of the 55-year-old man who was shot in LaSalle.

This is the city's 18th homicide of the year, according to Montreal police

Montreal police say a 55-year-old man has died after a shooting in the city's southwestern LaSalle borough overnight. 

They said they received a call about gunshots in an apartment on Airlie Street at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday. The man had been shot in the upper body, according to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

He was then transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but later died. 

The SPVM's major crimes squad is investigating his death. 

Police say no arrests have yet been made.

This is the 18th homicide on territory covered by the Montreal police this year.
