St. Theresa Point First Nation man's death investigated as homicide: RCMP

Island Lake RCMP are investigating the suspicious death of a 25-year-old man in St. Theresa Point First Nation as a homicide. 

Police said 25-year-old died after being taken to a nursing station with life-threatening injuries

Island Lake RCMP are investigating the suspicious death of a 25-year-old man in St. Theresa Point First Nation as a homicide. 

Officers from the RCMP detachment received reports at around 7:40 a.m. Saturday that an unknown man was taken to a nursing station in the First Nation with life-threatening injuries, police said in a news release.

RCMP went to the nursing station in the community, which is roughly 466 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, and learned the man was pronounced dead. 

Mounties did not identify the 25-year-old man from St. Theresa Point First Nation in the release.

RCMP's Major Crime Services, along with the Island Lake detachment and forensic identification services, continue to investigate.
