Representatives from Tesla Canada were in Kitchener this week to take residents for a spin in their luxury sedan, the Tesla Model S.

The electric car doesn't come cheap - prices start at $77,800 for the 60 kilowatt hour model, which allows drivers about 380 kilometres of driving until the next charge.

The Model S goes as high as $103,300 for the 85 kWh performance model (with 480 km of driving until charge) but all models qualify for $8,500 rebate from the provincial government, said Cera McTavish, a Tesla representative.

Currently, Tesla has a dealership in Toronto and will be opening another in Vancouver.

CBC's Dan Sherman took the Model S on a test drive. Check out his photos above.
