Gord Sinclair reworks unreleased Tragically Hip song for charity: listen
'Get Back Again' was originally written by the Canadian rock band in the '80s
An early, unreleased Tragically Hip song has resurfaced thanks to the band's bassist, Gord Sinclair.
Sinclair, who released his debut solo album earlier this year, has put out "Get Back Again," a track written by the Tragically Hip in the late '80s. The song never made it onto any of the Hip's albums, but was performed live around the time the Canadian rockers toured their first record, 1989's Up to Here.
Sinclair has now re-recorded the song and sings lead vocals.
"This is a song that really only existed in kind of really raw live recordings available on the internet and yet it has a resonance with people," Sinclair told the Canadian Press. He added that the song is especially relevant now as people continue to self-isolate due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "We will get back again to some kind of normal and we will endure with a little bit of faith. That's what the song is really about. That's why it's seeing the light of day now."
Proceeds from the single will go to the Kingston Food Bank and Unison Benevolent Fund. You can listen to the track below.
