We here at CBC Life are just as excited as you about Canada's 150th birthday. Aside from being supremely functional, an idyllic meeting spot fit for young lovers and, for some, a source of acute anxiety, bridges are pretty easy on the eyes, too. And when the sunset hits them juuuust right, illuminating their architectural beauty as they cascade over stretches of sparkling waters, they transform into the stuff our Instagram feeds are made of.

Luckily for us Canadians, our country is home to many of these picturesque structures, including the world's longest covered bridge, which sits overtop Saint John River in the western part of New Brunswick.
