Party perfect: The game-changing beauty DIYs you need this holiday season

Natural beauty expert Sandy Gold shares three-ingredient concoctions for soft lips, a fresh face and shiny hair.

When it comes to looking and feeling your best at your next holiday engagement, a solid pre and post-party beauty routine can go a long way. So, we asked natural beauty expert and certified aromatherapist Sandy Gold to help guide us with a little party prep on The Goods. She offered up a comprehensive plan on what to do the day before your next soiree, the day of, and some tips for the day after when you're skin could use a little rejuvenation.

The day before (pre-party) exfoliation

DIY this super simple face and lip scrub using only three ingredients to get a pre-party glow the day before the bash. This scrub will remove the layer of dead skin cells that can make skin look tired and dull, and make sure that your lips are smooth and kissable.

What you'll need:

  • 1 tsp raw honey
  • 1 tsp cane sugar
  • ¼ tsp freshly squeezed organic lemon juice

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl.

2. Gently apply on face and lips in a small circular motion. Remove with a warm wet face towel.

3. Finish with a splash of cool water and pat dry.

The day of hair care

Get shinier hair the day of the party with a DIY apple cider vinegar and rosemary hair rinse. The natural acids found in apple cider vinegar helps to remove build-up and restore your hair's natural pH balance, which will leave your hair soft, smooth and super shiny.

What you'll need:

  • 1 part raw apple cider vinegar
  • 3 parts water
  • 1 drop rosemary essential oil

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients into a spray bottle; shake to mix.

2. In the shower, after shampoo and conditioner, spritz your hair all over with the mixture.

3. Wait five minutes, then rinse well.

The day after (post- party)

Try this DIY at-home face and eye mask the day after your night out to rehydrate the skin, de-puff and reduce under eye dark circles. Sandy calls it a cure for a skin hangover!

What you'll need:

  • 1 cup steeped green tea, cooled in the fridge
  • 1 tsp jojoba oil
  • 1 plain face mask puck (like these) or large cotton pads

Directions:

1. Mix the green tea and jojoba oil together in a bowl.

2. Immerse a compressed face mask sheet into the liquid. If you don't have a face mask sheet you can use large cotton pads.

3. Wring out excess liquid then place on the skin and leave on for 10 to 15 minutes.

4. Remove and admire your renewed complexion!
