You're so glossy! Glistening new makeup products for the shine-obsessed

Gloss-related makeup products are everywhere, promising glossy lids, glossy lips and so much more. In the past, it's been more common to see the look on the runway. But today, the wet, high-sheen aesthetic is crossing over into everyday life, popping up on our Instagram feeds and landing in more and more makeup bags. It's an extension of the dewy, I-just-came-from-yoga look that's another big beauty trend right now, where it's less about coverage and more about radiant, glowing skin.

So if you want to add a little shine to your routine, or get seriously glazed up, here are some new glossy makeup products to check out.

This gloss is so ultra shiny, you might see your reflection in your lips! When you apply this plumping gloss, right away you'll feel the slightest, refreshing tingle. It definitely adds volume, but it also leaves lips glossy and supple — without any sticky mess. Great news if you've got dry lips: the formula also has a moisturizing effect, thanks to a touch of hyaluronic acid. I think the lip maximizer looks best applied on top of the Dior Addict Lip Glow to the Max of the matching shade, but considering its higher price point, it's nice that this gloss works perfectly by itself, too. Colour number 12, Rosewood, is my favourite, as it works well on most skin tones.

Take your dewy, glossy makeup look to the next level by adding some sheen to your lids and cheeks. Use your fingertips to tap on Flesh's eye and cheek gloss. It gives your eyes that sleek look without being overly sticky, so you won't feel like your lids are sticking together. On your cheeks, it adds even more smooth, wet shine. The product comes in a few luscious colours and the cool thing is you can use it solo on bare skin or on top of existing eyeshadow for lacquered, highly pigmented look (keep in mind that all glossy eye makeup is prone to creasing, but because this one fairly thick it doesn't move around too much). Tom Ford's Eye Gloss is more expensive, and does shift a bit more, but is a great alternative if you can't get your hands on the Fleshpot.

Get you a high-powered highlight with Stila's latest Face Gloss. It's essentially a skin balm with a lightweight texture and a marbled finish — it kind of looks like the Milky Way. I like it because it's easy to control and gives you a buildable glimmer, its sparkly bits blending together nicely to create a reflective, multidimensional look. You'll get that glossy effect with a natural, non-sticky feel. Use your fingers or a blending brush to apply it to your cheekbones, brow bone, temples, nose bridge … wherever!

Shade Mystère Face Gloss, $36, stila.ca

Is it possible for a lip gloss to make one dream of pastels and fresh spring breezes? Yes: Mac's latest lineup is inspired by cherry blossom season. The packaging is petal perfect, and the collection offers four perky pink colours of Mac's beloved lipglass formula, ranging from a frosty pearl to a Barbie pink to a deeper rose tone. They all have a shiny, glass-like finish, but I find Heartmelter is best suited for all skin tones. They feel great on the lips, too, thanks to infusions of jojoba and coconut oil.

Maybelline and Puma have joined forces for a gym-approved collection, designed to stay put through a workout or any high-performance day. The collection includes a highlighter duo face stick that contains a rosy cheek tint on one side and a glossy product on the other — a perfect option if you want to embrace the gloss obsession without going over the top. This multipurpose blush is also lightweight, waterproof and, in my experience, pretty easy to apply.

When it comes to the dewy look, Milk has already proven itself with one of the brand's most popular products: their Face Gloss. Their latest glossy addition is a lip conditioner that's glaze goals. It's infused with hemp-derived cannabis seed oil which maximizes the glaze's hydrating and soothing potential, and it's also rich in antioxidants. Moringa butter rounds out the moisture-laden ingredients list. Just a heads up that it's greenish when you squeeze it out of the tube, but it goes on clear.  You'll love the cool feel of the metal applicator when you glide on the conditioner. Use by itself or on top of your favourite lippie for a high-shine finish.

Milk Makeup Kush Lip Glaze, $22, sephora.ca

Gloss up your eyes, lips and cheeks with this creamy goodness. There are five shades to choose from, and the gloss spreads nicely and isn't too sticky. When used on the lips, you'll definitely see the glimmer factor. It doesn't dry down on cheeks and eyes as much as I might like it to, but it does have really good staying power. What's more, the coconut oil and vitamin E–enriched formula nourishes skin as it shines.
