3 must-be-seen-in-swimwear styles of the summer
Suiting up this summer is going to be fun!
When it comes to summer, there's a lot to look forward to: warmer temps and charcoal ice cream, for instance — and then there's statement swimwear. This season, the one-piece has been cut out, bikini bottom waists have been raised higher and mix-and-match bathers have become way more interesting. These swimsuits are not only all over Instagram, but they also work on all different body types. Whether you're planning a weekend at a cottage or want a refresh for your next vacay, we've rounded-up our picks in the top three trends of the summer. Hope you discover your new favourite below.
High-Waisted Bikinis
When Danielle Bernstein, the blogger behind @weworewhat, teamed up with Onia for a capsule collection of bathing suits, Instagram went nuts — and rightfully so. The line is amazing and really original; the high-waisted bikinis in particular were standouts. That's not to say they're the only option. Brands like Zimmermann and Tiger Mist have created their own versions of the style that's the most flattering bikini option for almost every shape and size. Some are printed, and others are solid, but all are at the top of our list for summer.

The One-Piece
Last year, the one-piece made a comeback; this year, the ultra flattering style is getting some edge. Thanks to cutouts placed in all the right places to flatter the body, what could be a simple swimsuit, isn't, well, so simple.
Designers like Lisa Marie Fernandez are cutting up and tying up the one-piece in ways we've never seen the suit before. They're available in fun polka dot prints, and bright solids that embrace the spirit of summer. Choose one that's open on the sides like Aerie's or a one-shoulder version like J.Crew's. There's no going wrong any way you do it.

The Mix and Match
What if you didn't have to pick just one print or colour? Well thanks to one of the summer's top trends, you really don't have to this year. New mix and match styles mean you can mix complementary florals and plaids or solids and stripes with ease. The trend comes in both one-piece and bikini cuts, so there's lots of choice to shop. Some of our favourites come rainbow colour-blocked by Mara Hoffman and off-the-shoulder by Maaji. But really, we would jump right in with any of these.
