Based on Margaret Atwood's bestselling novel, the six-hour miniseries starring Sarah Gadon premieres on Sept. 25, 2017.

CBC has released a new teaser for the upcoming six-hour miniseries Alias Grace, directed by Mary Harron and written by Sarah Polley. The series, which premieres on Sept. 25, 2017, is based on Margaret Atwood's bestselling novel.

Sarah Gadon stars as Grace Marks, a poor Irish immigrant working as a servant in mid-19th century Upper Canada. Marks is accused of murdering her employer Thomas Kinnear, played by Paul Gross, and his housekeeper Nancy Montgomery, portrayed by Oscar-winning actress Anna Paquin.

The story is inspired by the real 1843 murders of Kinnear and Montgomery, for which Marks was convicted and later exonerated.

It's been a big year for Atwood fans, with the success of Hulu's adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale. The series, starring Elisabeth Moss, wrapped its first season in June and picked up 13 Emmy nominations.
