Jesmyn Ward, Arundhati Roy, Jennifer Egan on the 16-person 2018 Women's Prize for Fiction longlist
The annual £30,000 UK prize highlights the best in English-language fiction by international women authors.
March 8 is International Women's Day — and it's also the day the longlist for the 2018 Women's Prize for Fiction is announced. The UK-based annual £30,000 award (approx. $53,665 Cdn) for fiction written by women, previously known as the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction, is open to international authors and judged by an all-woman jury.
This year, 16 authors made the 2018 longlist, including Jesmyn Ward, for Sing, Unburied, Sing, Arundhati Roy, for The Ministry of Utmost Happiness, and Jennifer Egan, for Manhattan Beach.

There are no Canadians on this year's longlist. Past Canadian winners of the prize include Anne Michaels and Carol Shields. The 2018 winner will be announced on June 6, 2018.
