Montreal's Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival has cancelled the 2020 edition amid growing concerns over COVID-19.

The festival was scheduled for May 1–6, 2020.

The TD-Blue Metropolis Children's Festival, scheduled for April 25 to May 3, 2020, was also postponed.

In place of its regular events, Blue Metropolis will be launching a book club for readers of all ages and will offer complimentary vouchers to be used at bookstores.

The foundation will also share a series of creativity workshops for children between ages 6 and 11 and reading recommendations on its social media platforms.

Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival is the latest literary festival to be cancelled in the wake of COVID-19. The Toronto Comic Arts Festival and Hamilton's gritLIT festival both cancelled their 2020 editions. Brampton's Festival of Literary Diversity will be a virtual festival in 2020.
