Dwayne Morgan's poem, addressed to his daughter, is an admission of his inability to prepare her for a world where misogyny still exists.

Dwayne Morgan is an award-winning poet and author with more than 20 years of spoken word experience. For the latest installment of our video series Poetic License, Morgan has written a piece acknowledging the limits of the teachings he's given his daughter about her place in the world as a young woman.

"I've repeated the same thing ever since you were young, told you that your body is yours and nobody gets to touch," he says, second-guessing his words to her as a child.

Morgan's words in the video above symbolize a father's attempt to come to terms with a changing world for his young daughter. "It is my job as the dad of a little girl to try to explain the ways of the world and prepare you for the pitfalls that await."
