Dance legend Peggy Baker collabed with members of Arcade Fire to look at who we are in the dark
Peggy Baker, Sarah Neufeld and Jeremy Gara work to create a performance about intimacy, identity and secrets
For the past little while, Sarah Neufeld and Jeremy Gara of Arcade Fire have been heading to a rehearsal space packed with dancers. The group is led by Peggy Baker, an icon of Canadian dance. Put together, the trio, plus a group of incredible dancers, are a supergroup creating an investigation into who we are in the dark.

The collaboration has happened before - violinist Neufeld and choreographer Baker have worked together to investigate the same question. As you'll see in this video made by filmmaker Caitlin Durlak, the movements Baker creates are live-scored by Neufeld, who musically responds to the dancers in the studio. And you get the inside scoop — you're headed to rehearsal just a few days before Who We Are in the Dark begins its run in Toronto.
If you're able, catch Who We Are in the Dark while it's in Toronto at Canadian Stage — it's on until February 24.
Keep up with Sarah Neufeld here, Jeremy Gara here and Peggy Baker here.
