Christmas with the krumpers: Toronto's BUCC N FLVR dance crew
Local dance group lit up CBC Sounds of the Season this year
Never heard of krump? Not to worry. It's a genre of dance in the hip hop world that began in Los Angeles in the early 2000s and that spread from there in all directions, helped by David LaChapelle's 2005 documentary Rize. Krump came to Canada a while later, and now the country has its own rising stars in the style.
One of them is BUCC N FLVR, a Toronto-area crew that's been together since 2009, redefining krump. You may have seen them on Episode 2 of Exhibitionists, where they lit up our studio with powerful, evocative moves.
The BUCC N FLVR dancers BUCC N FLVR joined Exhibitionists host Amanda Parris on stage at CBC's annual Sounds of the Season. The CBC Toronto atrium got perhaps its first taste of krumping — and it's about time, really.
Watch Exhibitionists Sundays at 4:30pm (5 NT) on CBC.
