CSA-nominated Kevan Funk knew from the time he was 12 years old that his career would be in directing films.

Canadian director Kevan Funk grew up surrounded by a family of artists. His experiences with his parents' grassroots theatre company shaped his future as a storyteller, and he fell in love with the art of filmmaking when he discovered the thought-provoking yet accessible films of the 1970s "New Hollywood" era.

A graduate of Emily Carr University of Art & Design in Vancouver, B.C., Funk now spends his time making (and watching) independent cinema in Canada. The writer and director of Hello Destroyer strives to make films for a thinking adult audience.

Hello Destroyer has received four 2017 Canadian Screen Awards nominations. The 2017 Canadian Screen Awards air Sunday, March 12 at 8pm local time (9pm AT/9:30 NT) on CBC TV or online here starting with the red carpet at 7:30pm ET.
