
Ma-Nee Chacaby
Ma-Nee Chacaby is a Two-Spirit Ojibwa-Cree Elder, writer, artist, storyteller, and activist. She was raised by her Cree grandmother in a remote Ojibwa community near Lake Nipigon, Ontario. In 2013, she led the first gay pride parade in Thunder Bay and, in 2021, she received the Community Hero Award from the mayor of Thunder Bay. Ma-Nee’s groundbreaking memoir A Two-Spirit Journey won the Ontario Historical Society’s Alison Prentice Award and the Oral History Association’s Book Award.
